Every bottle the sommelier names is a real one from the catalog. When it reads a label we don’t have, it says so on the card and calls the details estimates — no borrowed ratings, no made-up prices.
No banners, no sponsored bottles, no marketplace taking a cut. Nobody can pay to rank higher, because there is no ranking to buy.
Your saves, notes and scans exist to make the app useful to you — not to be sold. Delete the account and the data goes with it, in two taps from Settings.

You get the best match plus the other candidates it considered, so a worn, angled or badly lit label gives you options rather than a confidently wrong answer.
Yes. Scanning labels, the full wine and winery catalog, taste profiles, food pairings, the Wine Atlas and your Collection are all free, plus three AI sommelier questions a day. AboutWine Premium is an optional subscription that raises the sommelier to 50 questions a day and shapes recommendations around the wines you have rated and saved. There are no ads and no marketplace on either tier.
Not yet. AboutWine is currently an iOS app for iPhone and iPad, and it requires iOS 26 or later. An Android version is not available today — the best way to hear when that changes is to follow @aboutwineapp.

There are no ads, no cart and no affiliate links, so nothing you see is there because someone paid for it.
The AI sommelier writes a card from the label itself, describing the likely style and typical alcohol, and it labels the card as an estimate. It deliberately shows no rating and no price for those wines, because we will not invent numbers we do not have.
No. That is the point. The taste gauges are designed to be read at a glance, every term is explained in plain language, and the sommelier will happily answer beginner questions without making you feel like you asked one. Most people pick up the vocabulary a bottle at a time.
The app is fully localised in English and Korean, including tasting terms, grape names and food pairings, and it is available on the App Store worldwide.
